Education for ministry (efm)
Often abbreviated EFM, Education for Ministry is a basic theological education, including the old and New Testaments, church history, liturgy and theology. The full course stretches over four years.At least one church in the diocese, Redeemer, Pendleton, has an ongoing EFM program. Diocesan EFM coordinator is the Rev. Dcn. Small groups of participants and a trained mentor meet weekly during the nine-month academic year. Students who complete the program successfully receive a certificate and 18 continuing education credits for each of the four completed years. Students sign up for the program, which is run by the School of Theology at the University of the South (Sewanee) one year at a time.
