Personal and Community Faith Discernment Processes

We will focus on the process of “discernment” or “spiritual direction”.  Discernment relies on bringing our lives, concerns, and questions into the presence of scripture, reason, and prayer.   It continues by noticing and reflecting upon the thoughts and feelings that arise in these times of study and prayer.  Sr. Bernadette will assist us in seeking and learning God’s will for our lives.

Sister Bernadette, a Sister of the Monastery for almost 50 years will be leading us in discussion, prayer and study as we move through our own individual and community discernment processes.

Sister Bernadette received her BA from Cardinal Stritch College, Milwaukee, and since has continued studies in religious and pastoral education, theology and spiritual direction at Mundeleine College, Loyola University, St. Johns University and Mount Angel Seminary.  Her ministries have included teaching both in the Northwest and South America, religious education and pastoral ministry.  She set up an after-school tutoring program at Farmway Village, a migrant camp in Caldwell, Idaho.  She has led retreats in parishes and at universities in the Northwest and at the Monastery.
