Provisional Bishop

The Rt. Rev. Bavi Edna "Nedi" Rivera, Bishop Suffragan of the Diocese of Olympia, is the Provisional Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Eastern Oregon.  The electing convention and installation took place May 23, 2009 at Ascension School Camp and Conference Center in Cove, Oregon.  Bishop Rivera's position in Eastern Oregon is currently 1/3 time.

Rivera was elected to be the Olympia diocese's first Bishop Suffragan in 2004.  She is the first Hispanic woman bishop in the Episcopal Church.  Ordained to the priesthood in 1976, she served in parish ministry in the dioceses of El Camino Real and the Diocese of California.  Before moving to Washington she was rector of St. Aidan's Episcopal Church in San Francisco from 1994-2004.
